Home Is Where The Heart Is

This housing market is crazy! Does any body agree? Over some six months ago, Donny and I felt God leading us to sale our house. To move closer to family. Even though, we knew it would mean that we would have to make some sacrifices here and there, to make it work. After-all, we moved out here, because you can get more house for your money. Moving closer to family, means moving to a much higher priced area of real estate. So instead of moving our family of seven to a bigger home, with more space for the kids to grow, we would be moving into a smaller home, with less space. But we are ok with this. It means being closer to the ones that love us most. It means less gas money spent for our family to be involved in the kids lives, good and bad. Donny travels a lot with his job, so this move would really makes things easier for me, while he’s out of town. And just in case something happens, or I need some help, they are just a phone call away.

Last week, I was about at the point of giving up on selling our house. For anyone who has sold a home before, you know how exhausting the process is. Add five rambunctious kids on top of that and it’s all a barrel of fun. Of course, just as I was having these thoughts, all of a sudden we have been getting showings. In the middle of the week I might add. Monday, Tuesday night, and tonight (30min before) we had showings. I say all this, because I know you are reading this, and as a result many of you have been and will pray for us. Pray that if this is indeed Gods will for us, that he would work out all the details and that our house would sale, and whatever happens, we would be at peace about it.

Hudson’s Diagnosis

For a while now, we have noticed that things have just not seemed normal down there. Not sure if I was just crazy or if I just did not know much about the male anatomy. So a few months ago we scheduled Hudson to have a consultation with the pediatric urologist (Logan’s kidney doctor). He’s a popular guy so you have to schedule way out. Today, I took him to his appointment. Turns out, we were right, there is something abnormal. He was diagnosed with hydrocele. Specifically he has communicating hydrocele.

A hydrocele is a collection of fluid in the scrotal sac of male infants that drains downward from the abdominal cavity. The baby’s scrotum will appear swollen or large, but he will not have other symptoms. There are two types of hydroceles:

(1) Communicating hydrocele– This is a hydrocele that has contact (or communication) with the fluids of the abdominal cavity. A communicating hydrocele is caused by the failure of the processus vaginalis (the thin membrane that extends through the inguinal canal and descends into the scrotum) to close completely during prenatal development. If this membrane remains open, there is a potential for both a hernia and a hydrocele to develop.

(2) Non-communicating hydrocele– This condition might be present at birth or might develop years later for no obvious reason. A non-communicating hydrocele usually remains the same size or has a very slow growth.

Typically, before age one this goes away on its own. However, Hudson is already three and it is present. He needs to have surgery to correct this problem now, so it does not cause a bigger problem. He is scheduled for this surgery on July 22nd. Surprisingly enough, all that has gone on with Hudson and his long journey in the NICU, he is the only one of the quads that have never had surgery before. We are thankful this is something easily taken care.

Loving On Mommy

It’s been a wonderful weekend with my family. Since getting out of the hospital, I have felt even better, after a fun, refreshing time with my sweet hubby and my darling little children. We have had the opportunity to spend some much needed time together, just being a family. Donny and I cooked a lot together this weekend. He only cooks when I’m there to supervise. Haha! No fires in the kitchen, this weekend. We had several meals together, with everyone sitting down, eating at the same time. That rarely happens in our house. We even had a trip to the mall. A big adventure for our family.

We only got asked “Have you heard of Jon and Kate Plus 8?” a few dozen times. :) That even beat out the comments of, “Are they ALL yours?” “Are they twins?” “That’s a bus!” “You had them?” “Are they the same age?” Apparently, Jon and Kate Plus 8 gets some really good ratings. I’m personally a fan of show, makes me feel at home. Hubby on the other hand, wants nothing to do with it. Watching his life on TV, is not really a fun hobby of his.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Sending out love and hugs to my sweet mommy’s. You mean the world to me and I’m so thankful for everything you do for me and my family, near and far. I love you!!

Happy Birthday Sis!

What’s way cool is I have not one, but two sisters! Today, we celebrate my sister-in-laws birth. I love you Rachel and hope you have an awesome day! You deserve it!

This Little Light Of Mine!

This precious boy of mine, does such a great job of making his mommy feel loved and cared for. He has been forced to deal with so much craziness in his short four years of life and he has taken it all so well. He is always learning, always impressing me with how smart he is, and always sharing his big heart with me. Tonight, while we were sitting on the couch together, after dinner, he told me he did not want me to hurt anymore. Then asked me if I was going to be ok. Poor guy, you have been through way too much. I love you Logan!! You have no idea how much you mean to me.
